What is Classical Chinese Medicine

Classical acupuncture is based on the teachings of the Huang Di Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine), one of the oldest and most important texts in Chinese medicine. In these early teachings, a much broader network of channels was used to treat not only physical symptoms, but also chronic, complex, and emotional conditions.

Over time, much of this knowledge became less commonly practised, with most modern acupuncture focusing on the 12 primary channels. However, the teachings of the wider channel system were carefully preserved through oral tradition and passed down through generations of practitioners.

Dr. Jeffrey Yuen, a highly respected Daoist priest and Chinese medicine scholar, has been instrumental in sharing these teachings with modern practitioners. His student, Ann Cecil-Sterman, has spent decades studying, documenting, and teaching this classical approach, helping to bring this rich tradition back into contemporary practice.

Annabelle has completed multiple advanced trainings with Ann Cecil-Sterman and has studied the full 68-channel system. This expanded understanding of the channels allows her to draw from a broader range of treatment approaches when supporting patients with chronic illness, emotional health concerns, complex conditions, and those who may not have found answers elsewhere.

She is passionate about preserving the depth and wisdom of Classical Chinese Medicine and integrating these teachings into modern clinical practice.
